Not heard that before. I'm in a hard water area tho, so plenty of the right minerals for there shells.
I've got "borneo suckers" or hillstream loaches in there too, as they are subtropical.

Tank looks more like this now. I have found that they are much more active with more bogwood added, and with total surface coverage from the floating plants. bristlenose plec, two apple snails and two swan mussels and two neons (yes neon tetras!) still all living in harmony.


Had some Casualties tho. 5 mountain minnows - lunch. 8 out of ten apple snails - lunch. 3 hillstream loaches / borneo suckers all hounded to death. 2 Weather loaches - never seen, presumed eaten or hounded to death.
